Projects

At present there are five researchers supported by RGCSA grants researching impact of intervened births on distribution of birth times, the use of Mars and Saturn in forecasting life events and changes in employment astrology, assumptions and world views underpinning astrology and its critics, and astrologers’ attitudes towards the internet and their use of it, and astrological medical beliefs for humans and animals in early modern England.

• Personality and Birth Experience: does birth method and time of birth affect subsequent personality development
• Forecasting astrology and life events: cycles of Mars and Saturn and their possible links with times in the lives of people when they are likely to experience changes in their employment.

Astrology, assumptions and world views underpinning astrology and its critics

• Astrologers’ attitudes towards the internet and their use of it
• Research focusing on astrological medical beliefs for both humans and animals in early modern England.

Grants

The Southampton Research Grants for the Critical Study of Astrology is in a position to fund small university research projects in the areas outlined above, through some buy-out of teaching duties, and the payment of incidental expenses involved in the research. Funds may also be available to PhD and MSc students in UK Universities whose research contains an astrological component.

The research proposal must contain an astrological component related to the social sciences. Students meeting these requirements and who apply to register at Southampton University are then eligible to approach the RGCSA for help with funding for their degree.

We can now also consider students enrolled with other Universities.

The RGCSA has funds for student support available of up to £3000 per year, bursaries from which are allocated to individual applications on merit. Each grant is determined by RGCSA assessment of the individual research proposal and its relevance to science and astrology.
